HIOW Place names map.pngWho are the IPC team and what do we do?

Given the challenges over the past few years in particular, the importance of good infection prevention and control measures has never been clearer. As the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) team, we are here to support all healthcare providers – including our colleagues in primary care – with solutions and advice.

There are seven IPC practitioners within the ICB who all cover a different area, as well as offering an IPC advice line from 9am to 4pm (Mon-Fri) through our general inbox: hiowicb-hsi.infectionprevention@nhs.net and phone number: 08703156601.

As an IPC team we can support primary care colleagues with areas such as:

  • Primary Care IPC annual audits
  • Dissemination of relevant guidance and updates
  • Development of IPC resources
  • IPC advice
  • Facilitation of IC Lead forums specific to Primary Care held three times a year
  • Outbreak management and support; please contact us if you identify an outbreak within a care home

As an IPC team we can support Adult Social Care colleagues with areas such as:

  • IPC annual audits
  • Dissemination of relevant guidance and updates
  • Development of IPC resources
  • IPC advice
  • Facilitation of IC Lead forums specific to Adult Social Care held three times a year
  • Outbreak management and support

Across the system, we also support with:
