The Hampshire area, which previously consisted of four separate NHS clinical commissioning groups, has evolved over the years to work more closely with our neighbours and partners, sharing learning and resources, without losing our wealth of local knowledge. Across Hampshire there are a huge range of services, and service providers, who provide frontline care and support for people living across the county.
This range of support includes:
- Adult social care services, and services for children and families, managed by Hampshire County Council.
- Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, providing acute, elective and maternity services from hospital sites in Winchester, Basingstoke and Andover.
Many Hampshire residents also receive acute hospital care from Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, and the Isle of Wight NHS Trust.
Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust provides a wide range of community health services for adults and children across the county, and also provides mental health and learning disability services – both for inpatients, and in the community. The main provider of mental health care services for children and young people (often referred to as CAMHS) in Hampshire is the Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, alongside partners from local authorities, community and voluntary organisations. Sussex Partnership provides services from a range of Hampshire locations, including Ashurst, Andover, Basingstoke, Fareham, Havant, Eastleigh and Winchester.
Solent NHS Trust, and the Isle of Wight NHS Trust, also provide mental health services for children and young people. Solent NHS Trust also provides sexual health services, Special Care Dentistry, Children’s Hospital @ Home and the Veteran’s Mental Health and Wellbeing High Intensity Service.
The emergency 999 service, the non-emergency 111 service (both online and via the phone), and non-emergency patient transport services are all provided by South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SCAS). The Trust provides these services not just across Hampshire, but also in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, and Oxfordshire.
Across the county of Hampshire (excluding the Portsmouth, Southampton and Isle of Wight areas) there are currently 90 GP practices – local organisations providing primary care for their patients - working in all of our communities. These 90 practices are working more closely together than before, setting up a total of 27 ‘primary care networks’ (the largest of which includes 9 practices) allowing teams to share resources and expertise, and develop stronger services.
