NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight, and Wessex Primary Care Training Hub are delighted to announce details of two opportunities available to support the ongoing personal development of newly qualified/early career GPs working in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight (HIOW):
- HIOW New to Practice GP Fellowship (one session per week, paid, for two years)
- HIOW GP Early Careers Mentoring Programme (open to all, including locums)
These free programmes are open to anyone who meets the eligibility criteria - there is no limit on numbers. They provide avenues both for ongoing support/mentoring post-CCT and for wider professional development. If you are a newly qualified, soon-to-qualify, or early career GP working in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, or know someone who is, please see below:

How to apply:
For the New to Practice GP Fellowship applications are open and the closing date has been extended to 31st March 2024.
The current cohort (cohort six) started on 6th February 2024. We will continue to accept applications for cohort six up to 31st March 2024. We will hold a catch-up welcome session at the end of March.
To be eligible for cohort six you must have CCTd on or before 31st March 2024, plus be in a substantive role with a Hampshire and Isle of Wight GP Practice with a contract start date of no later than 31st March 2024.
We hope to run a further cohort starting in September 2024, however we are awaiting confirmation of funding for this. For any GPs CCTing on or after 1st April 2024, or starting their substantive contract on or after 1st April 2024, we are running a holding list. Please email the team to be added to the holding list: hiowicb-hsi.gpfellows@nhs.net. We will update everyone on the holding list as soon as further information in available.
