Experts have joined forces for a webinar to support parents, carers and guardians of young people to make informed choices about the COVID-19 vaccine.
This follows the Government’s announcement last month that the jab would be offered to all people between the ages of 12 to 15 – with parental, guardian or carer consent sought by healthcare staff prior to the vaccination of anyone in this age group.
The team of NHS clinicians, public health, care and education leaders from across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight have provided this important update to address key questions around:
- prevalence of COVID-19 across Hampshire and Isle of Wight
- the COVID-19 vaccination programme including local delivery of booster jabs, the universal offer of a vaccine to 12 to 15 year olds and the “evergreen” offer to all those eligible in our communities
- how the vaccine is delivered to young people, risks, benefits and side effects of COVID-19 vaccine for 12 to 15 year olds
- consent process
- education and potential impact
The webinar is designed to support parents, guardians and carers to have informed conversations with young people aged 12 to 15 who they have responsibilities for about the COVID-19 vaccine, and to support informed decision making based on the latest clinical evidence.
