15 September 2022

The NHS is here for you if you need us on bank holiday Monday (September 19).

As final preparations are made to mark the State Funeral of Her Late Majesty The Queen, people across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight are asked to plan ahead for their medicines needs for Monday and to visit NHS 111 online at www.111.nhs.uk first if medical advice or support is needed.

Most GP surgeries, dentists or pharmacy services will either close or change their opening hours on Monday.

People who need access to urgent services for conditions that cannot wait until normal services resume on Tuesday September 20 can contact NHS 111 for advice or to be directed to the most appropriate local service.

Patients who have pre-booked appointments with their GP surgery team on bank holiday Monday are being contacted directly by their practice to make alternative arrangements.

People who have booked their COVID-19 booster for Monday will receive a text reminder 48 hours prior to their appointment as usual. If your appointments for this day have been cancelled at your booked clinic, the text will inform you of this and ask you to rebook for another time. If your clinic is going ahead as planned, the text will give you the option to keep your appointment or reschedule.

The following pharmacies will be open on Monday and still have a limited number of COVID-19 booster sessions available via the National Booking Service.

  • Lalys Pharmacy, 1 Guildhall Walk, Portsmouth (also offering walk-ins on Monday).

Health advice and information is also available from the NHS AppNHS website and your local GP practice website.

You may also consider having at home a small stock of basic medicines in case needed for minor illness or injury – such as paracetamol, plasters, indigestion remedy and anti-diarrhoeal medicine. Ask your local pharmacist for advice on what medicines to keep at home.

Our Urgent Treatment Centres in Southampton, BasingstokePetersfieldPortsmouth, Lymington and the Isle of Wight will be open as usual on Monday to deal with minor wounds and injuries which are not life threatening.
